2007 COACHING STAFF

 

Varsity Head Coach Jack Francis

Columbia High School, 1976-1979 and University of Maryland 1980-1983. Jack Francis distinguished himself as a lacrosse player at both the collegiate and high school level. A 1979 graduate of Columbia High School, Francis captained the squad that captured the 1979 New Jersey State Championship. Francis, a midfielder, was selected to the All-State squads in 1978 and 1979. He also was selected to play in the 1979 New Jersey High Schools North-South All-Star game, and was selected as a high school All-American in his senior season. Following his career at Columbia, Francis went on to become an All-American mid-fielder at the University of Maryland, captaining the squad in his senior season of 1983. The Terps made the trip to the NCAA tournament three times in his four years, in 1981, 1982, and 1983. In 1983, the team went to the national semifinals round, before losing to the #2 seed, Syracuse. In his four seasons at Maryland, the Terps went 31-20. Francis played with the Mount Washington Lacrosse Club for one year as a midfielder following his graduation from Maryland. Jack has enjoyed one season on the pro circuit, playing for the New Jersey Arrows. In addition to these outstanding accomplishments, he is also in the New Jersey Lacrosse Hall of Fame. 

 

Varsity Assistant Coach Pete Kemp

Started playing organized lacrosse 1969 - Maplewood, NJ until 1975- 3 time MVP

1977- Georgia State High School lacrosse champs - Attack for Westminster H.S.

1980- Member of the Undefeated Atlanta Lacrosse Club - Southeast Club Champions.

1981-1985  St. Mary's College of Maryland - Midfielder NCAA Div 3

1985- 2006 - 11 post collegiate lacrosse clubs, GA, MD, NJ, Perth Australia, CA, FL.

Varsity Assistant Defense Coach Adam Silva

Player experience - United States Military Academy @ West Point - Patriot League All-Decade Team, 1990’s; First Team All Patriot League 1991, 1992, 1993; Patriot League Champions 1991, 1992, 1993; Three years undefeated in league play (15-0).  North-South National All Star, North; Army team captain, 1993; 1993 NCAA quarterfinals; 4 Varsity letters - Close defense, Long-stick defensive midfield, Short-stick defensive midfield.  Meade (MD) High School - 1989 All-America; Team captain 1988, 1989; North-South National All Star, South; All-County (Anne Arundel) 1988, 1989; All-Metro (Baltimore and D.C.) 1989.  Coaching experience - Chapman University, Head Coach (fall 1996-spring 1997); University of California-Irvine, Head Coach, 1996.  Professionally - was in the United States Army as a Field Artillery officer and was an institutional stock broker from 1995-1997.  Held various sales and management positions including Director of Sales for Buffet Crampon, a musical instrument company, from 1997-2007. Currently is the Director of People (HR) for the Wounded Warrior Project, a veteran’s charity based in Jacksonville, Florida. www.woundedwarriorproject.org

 

JV Head Coach Rob Carson

Coach Carson born and raised on Long Island, New York, brings a wealth of lacrosse knowledge to the team having played and lived in the heart bed of lacrosse.   Rob first played lacrosse in junior high school, then at Hicksville High School, and later on the varsity team of the Farmingdale State University of New York.  Following his college education he played club lacrosse on Long Island.  Coach Carson has coached for 8 years, 2nd graders through high school.  He recently moved his family from New York to the St. Augustine area.  He is looking forward to building lacrosse in the North Florida area and particularly at Nease High School. 

 

 

JV Assistant Coach Brian Leighty

Was VA/MDDC All-Met and All-State High School football player in Virginia. Played for Coach Herman Boone (as in the movie “Remember the Titans”) in the VA state High School All-Star game. He later went on to play at the College of William and Mary. Worked 25 years in defense related research and development programs for the United States and various NATO countries. Has a B.S. and M.S. in Physics and is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Computer Science. Coached 11 youth soccer teams and 4 football teams. Many of those boys are now playing lacrosse at Nease. Has a U.S. Soccer Federation Level E coaching license and has worked with the youth and high school lacrosse programs in Ponte Vedra for 5 years.This is his second year as a JV assistant.
